Pua must be upset. He spends money to get me and nick together and talks about blindsiding pepe next round, and says that he thinks that Pepe and the Queen are close. And then during this phase, in what may be our only chance this round to talk to someone one on one, nick picks him and I pick the queen, making it much harder to spread the Pepe vote.
Here's what I sent the queen: My message was probably way too blunt but that's pretty much the truth for why I picked her. I wanted to get her out last round but I couldn't and hey, if I can't beat her, why not join her? She's someone who seems socially powerful who I should probably get closer with, she's good in challenges so that might get me more money, and she sniffed out the target on her. Unless another group was talking about her too, I think she might have overreacted. Buzzy left and I don't think me targeting her would have went anywhere. And with Anne gone, I don't have very many code partners left and I wanted to end up with someone I don't have a code with so I can make a new code.
I'm feeling very conflicted about Reepicheep. With the money stash that he very likely has, his social ability and his challenge skills, he's probably the biggest threat in the game. But we're working together and he gave me money. There's multiple winners this game so if he has a good chance of winning, that's not necessarily awful for me, but anyone having a ticket punched to the final 8/6 isn't good. It means there's one less spot for me there.

On Pepe's Bee Movie script post: Did someone else have the same idea for a code as me? I'm going to go through this entire script and see if there are any differences.

I think Pepe put that in there originally to see if anyone would actually read through his script to find it. This is way more interesting. There's no paragraph break between "I suppose so." and "I see you also own". My guess is that's where Pepe communicates, and he got lazy and when he edited out the code, he forgot to put the paragraph break. So now I just have to see when that post gets edited and then control-f for Honeyburton and Honron.

What the hell? I thought that I was the only one smart enough to think of editing in messages into old posts! Or maybe it's not so smart, because now it's super easy to spy on Pepe, Dog and Sorsha and see what they're really thinking. ...I should be careful with what I say to Doofenshmirtz, and edit out my messages when I think he's seen them.

I haven't actually found it yet. Nobody's been helping me get back there :(
Did CC really give us a challenge based off of a sporcle quiz? Is the next challenge going to be Seth Rogen trivia?

Post by Prince Edward on Sept 21, 2019 16:37:54 GMT -5
I'm going to write a confessional post, but first I have to practice:
1. where was seth rogen born? (hint: not andalasia because it doesn't exist) How could you say that? If Andalasia doesn't exist, where did I come from? Seth Rogen was born in Andalasia Vancouver 2. what movie did seth rogen make his first appearance in? (hint: not a disney movie) Donny Darko 3. who did seth rogan co-write Superbad, Pineapple Express, The Green Hornet, and This Is the End with? Evan Goldberg 4. Who did seth rogan marry in 2011? Lauren Miller 5. what is the charity Hilarity for Charity focused on raising awareness for? Alzheimers 6. what is rogan's net worth? 55 million US dollars, or 5.5 billion disney dollars
Hopefully I was allowed to use Wikipedia for this.

Okay, time for a longer confessional.
Zack and Cody left, which I was feeling pretty good about when it happened. He was a threat who I didn't feel close to, and with there being only a few rounds left until the finals, time was running out to get rid of threats.
I got the chat that I wanted with queen, and it started off kind of awkward. She responded positively when I said that I liked her but hadn't talked to her much and wanted to talk more, but then the conversation kind of died. The next day, I asked her who she wanted to vote out, and she responded by saying that she wanted me to get to the final 8 with her. Okay...that felt very sudden and also didn't answer my question. But I guess if so many people make the finals, offering someone a deal to get to the final 8 isn't as special as offering someone a deal to get to the final 2.
Then we go and bomb the challenge, and then the next day, we finally start talking about the game. She says that she thought that Zack and Cody started the kickstarter thread to trick people into contributing to it. Which is exactly what I wanted to have happen. Except I wanted the kickstarter to succeed while not contributing to it, while Zack and Cody wanted it to fail. And he pushed the button in round 2 for similar reasons as me (wanted to maximize their own money and take money away from other people).
It's too bad I didn't get into the rich chat and me and Zack never got to really meet up. We could have gotten up to some mischief together.
Finally, the round starts winding down. I'm frantically trying to open up as many tabs as possible since I thought a game trivia challenge was coming up. I ask Queen if we should come up with a code, since that was one of the reasons I picked her. She agrees. I'm hoping that she comes up with one since I'm busy.
She says
This is with 6 minutes left. Like, we need to figure out WHAT the code is going to be. I realize that I'm going to have to step up a little bit so I propose that we use mickey as a trigger word to say that the post contains a code. She says
This was posted at exactly 7:00, right as the deadline hit. Like, you know we're not going to be able to chat in 15 seconds, right? We need to know what "things" he is doing, and which players they represent. I had a post ready to go matching people up for an actual, honest-to-goodness code. But I checked the counter right before I was ready to submit it and the deadline had barely hit. I probably could have just posted it since it was on the minute of the deadline, but I didn't want to break the rules.
So yeah, phase 2 starts with no code between me and the queen.
But phase 2 turns out to be very interesting.
Reepicheep grabs me and Pua into a chat and reveals that he's in the rich chat with Doofenshmirtz, Dog with a Blog and Pepe, which used to include Zack and Cody, and that the rich chat has been running the game.
I feel so out of the loop. I didn't know about any of this, and I even tried to get Doofenshmirtz on board to vote for Zack and Cody. I don't know who people are close to, most of the people who said they were voting out Anne were lying, and I just feel like the game has been happening around me. If I get to the final 8 and don't have a lot of money, I wouldn't give me my jury vote. Maybe if I was up against Nick or Alex Trebek or something then yeah, but otherwise I don't know who I could beat. Reepicheep is probably the best player in this game. Queen and Megara are very well liked. Anyone from the rich chat who makes the end will probably have a lot of votes locked up. So that leaves...Ralph (I think I can beat him), Sorsha (getting picked up by the rich chat and surviving getting votes so many times will earn her some respect. Although I also kind of got picked up by the rich chat through doofenshmirtz so I'm not sure), Air Bud (similar to Sorsha), Naveen (ehhh. I never really got to meet up with him so I don't know a lot about his game. Maybe I could beat him), Pua (we seem similar but last round he showed that he had a much bigger understanding of this game than me), and that's it. So there's three people I think I can definitely beat, and four where it will be close.
But everyone will ask me "Edward, what did you do?" and I'll kind of be at a loss. I didn't make anything happen. I didn't know what was going on until now. I guess I can say that I haven't gotten any votes (so far), but so has half of the game. Anne got voted out one round before the jury started so I don't have her support. Or I can say that I attached myself to two of the bigger threats in the game in Doofenshmirtz and Reepicheep and played under the radar. Or I can hoard my cash and try to skip the jury vote.
I have to make it there, first. And I have almost enough cash to do it. I have $7421 right now. Paying up this round costs $2000, next round will probably be $2250 and then the round after that will be $2500. So that's $6750, which I have enough for.
But there's also nullifiers. Nobody bought any of them until the round Anne left, when Doof and Ralph bought six. Then three people bought it last round. And I'm expecting many more people to do it this round. I know I am, probably for 2 votes. Enough for it to be a deterrent but not so much where it will hurt me. If I keep doing that, it'll probably cost me $600 next round and $700 the round after that? I mean, I don't know how much the prices are going to increase but after the rate it's been going up that seems reasonable.
So that's $8250, $800 more than I have. Which seems pretty doable. I can make that much in one round.
So I have two routes I can go:
Route 1: Pay up the next 3 rounds, nullify 2 votes each round and make the finals with maybe $1000 leftover. That won't make me a captain or give me a spot in the final 6, but I can guarantee that I get to the final 8. And then I'll have to argue that I deserve to make it to the final 6 when I kind of feel that I don't.
Route 2: Put up in at least one round and try to get one of the two spots. According to my notes thread, I'm one of the three highest earners. I've paid up 4/8 times, though, which is probably more than most people.
That gets me into the main problem with the notes thread, though. This isn't very accurate. Who knows how many times everyone paid up? And I bet Zack gave Doofenshmirtz, Dog and Pepe some money on his way out. And three people paid $1500 for the kickstarter.
So who knows. What happened recently is more telling. Last round, everyone got $3000 for the scavenger hunt. Then almost everyone spent $1800 to get out of the creativity challenge. And then they got varying amounts for this challenge, with the rich chat people getting more money.
Ugh. I'm not sure. I think I can do well in this challenge. It seems based off of logic and I'm good at logic. But I also have a spot locked up in the final 8, but once I get there, my path to the final 6 is questionable. I also think there's going to be a game trivia challenge coming up, but I could be definitely off on that.

Round 9
Sept 21, 2019 22:01:25 GMT -5
Post by Prince Edward on Sept 21, 2019 22:01:25 GMT -5
Ugh. I decided to do the challenge and I was cruising along. I had had a couple of close calls but I had gotten 35 points out of 52. I had just figured out that Kim Possible was a redhead after an embarrassingly long time of staring at the clues and trying to figure out if I should guess. Getting the Kim Possible clue triggered a chain of 6 more correct guesses in about 12 minutes, which was pretty good after what I think was a half hour of doing nothing.
The clue that tripped me up was that the character with the most scrabble points doesn't exist. I had already made a list of the 5 characters that could possibly not exist: Megara, Yzma, Elsa, Esmeralda and Judy Hopps. Except that in my notes thread, I wrote Judy Hopps down as Judy and when I calculated their scrabble points, Yzma had more than Judy but not more than Judy Hopps. I should have double checked since accuracy is way more important in a challenge like this than speed but I was feeling pretty good and I was on a roll so I just submitted it.
35/52 is more than the 30-40% average I see on the sporcle minefield quizzes. If this was early in the game, I would feel pretty good. This is a difficult challenge. It took me about an hour and 48 minutes to get 2/3 of the way through and I can easily see someone messing up halfway through or even early on.
But this is the third to last challenge. I'm sure there's some people who did similar calculations as me and realized that they can pay their way to the end. And most people netted $1400 from the last round, and with people getting up to $2800 this round, I think almost everyone can afford to pay up.
Overall, I feel like I did pretty good in this challenge. But it doesn't matter if I did well. All that matters is if I did better than everyone else who attempted it. And I probably did? But I'm not sure, and I'm feeling nervous. Not as nervous as I was after the balance challenge, but nervous nonetheless.

Round 9
Sept 22, 2019 10:40:06 GMT -5
Post by Prince Edward on Sept 22, 2019 10:40:06 GMT -5
I hope Doofenshmirtz is okay. He started out as my #1, then became a meat shield when he told me he agreed to vote out Trebek and then voted out Anne and then dodged my question about it, and he became even more of a meatshield when I found out he was in the rich chat and hadn't told me. But I really liked him and I still considered him an ally, even if he wasn't entirely trustworthy. I'll miss you, doof For this game, though, Doof goes out without me having to betray him. I do lose some influence with his side, though. I believe the rich chat kept me safe because i was doof's side alliance and because reepicheep wanted me to be safe. Now reepicheep's broken away from the rich chat and I have no connection with the rich chat. And the threat of the rich chat is lessened without zack & cody and doofenshmirtz. However, I now have a second chance at making a code with queen, and I can inform her about the rich chat without doof leaking it back. Right before the results, I made a ranking of who I hoped was eliminated by the challenge: 1. Dog with a blog (the least threatening member of the rich chat, which makes him the most threatening. I have no connection with him and there's probably not enough time to get him out) Air bud (rich chat groupie) Sorsha (rich chat groupie) Megara (pretty big social threat) Naveen (it might be good for someone not connected to the rich chat to go so the rich chat remains a threat, and I don't have a connection with Naveen) Pepe (Big threat who I want out but I want him out in the vote. If he gets eliminated, Doofenshmirtz is probably in trouble) Queen (I'm connecting with her more but she's a threat) Doofenshmirtz (basically what I said above about how his elimination effects me) Reepicheep (big threat) Ralph (someone I want in the end) Alex (someone I want in the end) Nick (someone I want in the end who I actually have somewhat of a connection with) Pua (my #1. I know I'm not his #1 though, which sucks) Hopefully we can get pepe out this round. He didn't nullify any votes and didn't win immunity, so he's fair game. This vote is kind of nerve wracking in how easy it is. Reepicheep said he was dropping on a 6 player chat with these rankings: Queen Alex Ralph Nick Megara Naveen, then Pua said he was making a backup chat bid. I'm in Pua's chat with Pua, Naveen, Air Bud and Sorsha, which means that Pepe and Dog with a Blog have a chat to themselves. How is this so easy? They don't nullify any votes except for dog with a blog nullifying one, and my group gets both chats. Zack & Cody were just voted out and Reepicheep said that the rich chat was dead silent. So they have to be uncomfortable, right? That's why I wanted to nullify two votes. I was convinced that Pepe would get nervous and buy some nullifiers, and if they all bought enough nullifiers, the "outsiders" would have to turn on each other. What are pepe and dog with a blog doing? Do they not have any money? Pepe seems like he's been paying up, though. And if I were zack and cody, I would have given them both some money since I knew I was going.

Round 9
Sept 23, 2019 0:29:19 GMT -5
Post by Prince Edward on Sept 23, 2019 0:29:19 GMT -5
Pepe contacted me using the same code that i used with doofenshmirtz, and he's been talking about working together since we're connected to different people. And, uh, he's the target for this round.
I'm pretty bad at talking to people who I plan to vote out, and I'm especially bad when we have a way of secretly comminicating and they're talking about teaming up. I'm not sure what to say to him. If I ignore him, I lose his respect. If I tip him off, he probably posts something in the rich chat and Reepicheep knows that I sold out his spot. Again.
If this was the final 13 in a normal game, I'd probably try to get Dog with a Blog out. Our one chat we had was during the Anne vote and he ignored me for the latter half of that vote (after I told Anne and Pepe that dog with a blog told me anne was a target). Dog with a Blog is someone I can see making the final 6, as long as they can survive this next round, either with nullifiers or if pepe hears that he's doomed and gives his money to dog with a blog. And then at the final 8, he'll say "I was influential enough to get in the rich chat but I kept my threat level low enough so when it got exposed, I was able to survive." And that's a strong argument.
But the final 13 in this game is like the final 7 in a normal game, and I think I have to vote Pepe here. He's only reaching out to me now because he feels like he needs me. He's probably in a 2 player chat with dog with a blog and is feeling isolated now that he's not getting any benefit from the rich chat. But earlier, when he was much more powerful than me, it didn't feel like he was that into working with me. He's also a pretty big threat, and I want to remove threats from the game. Everyone else had an opportunity to take out trebek but they decided they'd go for Anne instead, so I have no sympathy for anyone who ends up being outlasted by trebek.

Man, this format is really messing with me. In regular survivor, I would know that I absolutely have to stab Reepicheep. But now there are multiple winners and it gets really hard to control things once the final 6 happens. Reepicheep has definitely played better than me, but if we can both get to the final 6, does it really matter?
I hate this because I can't tell how cutthroat I should be.

hi!! I have lots of questions because you're my favorite player in this game and I want to know what you're thinking!!
1. How much water have you drank in the past 24 hours? 2. Who, if anyone, currently on the jury would vote for you? 3. Who is the best survivor player on mafiascum.net? 4. What challenge do you want to see for the upcoming elimination #10? 5. What's your favorite quote? 6. If this game had an Island of the Idols, who would you want to see come back at the end and steal your win? 7. Help me settle the age old debate: does Pineapple belong on Pizza? 8. Who is the biggest threat in this game right now? 9. Under what circumstances is it acceptable to use a nuclear missile? 10. Who are you going to vote for next layoff?
