A fifth of the players we started with are gone! They could come back and compete as a team in this challenge and we could make it 5 teams of 6. That'd be fun. We won't though. Let's take a look at our new teams.
The new
Maroon Team, captained by Anne Boonchuy, consists of Dr. Doofenshmirtz, Sorsha, and Pixar Lamp.
The new
Lime Team, captained by Dog with a Blog, consists of Megara, Queen of Hearts, and Rapunzel.
The new
Navy Team, captained by Prince Edward, consists of Air Bud, Pua, and Winnie the Pooh.
The new
Yellow Team, captained by Reepicheep, consists of Buzzy, Yzma, and Zack and Cody.
The other two teams were randomized.
The new
Orange Team consists of Alex Trebek, Hank Hill, Pepe the King Prawn, and Sphero.
The new
Purple Team consists of Kristoff, Nick Wilde, Prince Naveen, and Wreck-It-Ralph.
"Mickey Mouse, why did Disney buy the rights to a card game of all things?" Because I saw Battleship, and we need more movies based off of board games/card games, goddammit.
For today's Cash Grab, you've been divided into teams of 4. You'll be playing Narabi, a cooperative card game. Each team has the same 12 double-sided cards, divided in the same way amongst their players in the same order. These 12 cards form a circle, with three cards placed in front of each player like so:
On the face-up side of each card, visible to everyone in your game, are two attributes: a color (white or black) and a number (0-8 or blank). There are 6 white and 6 black cards, as well as one card for each number and three blanks.
On the hidden side of each card is a rule, or "restriction." This restriction can only be viewed by the player currently in possession of the card, and it explains how the card may be moved on your turn. An example rule might be, "exchange this card for an odd-numbered card." For the purposes of these restrictions, 0 is considered an even number and blank stones are considered to have the number 0. When you come into possession of a new card, you will learn its restriction.
On each player's turn, beginning with Player 1, that player makes one move- she exchanges any one of her cards with a card held by another player. The position of the cards in front of you does matter, so you might say something like "I exchange card B for card J" or "I exchange my 6 card for Mickey's blank card." Which of your cards can be exchanged for which other cards is governed by the rule on the card you're exchanging. It does not matter what the rule on the card being traded for is. You may not exchange cards with yourself. After you make one move, play passes to the next player in clockwise order.
You are not allowed to talk about the rules on your cards. You may only communicate in the form of yes or no questions, such as "Would you be able to exchange card J for D on your turn?" Only two such questions may be asked on a player's turn, to prevent abuse. You may not ask questions that refer to rules/restrictions.
Your goal is to arrange the cards such that 0-8 are in order around the circle. It does not matter whether you arrange them clockwise or counterclockwise. It does not matter where the blank stones are; they exist to help you. Once you have done this, you are finished.
If these rules are confusing in any way,
here are the official rules.
It is recommended that you play this challenge semi-live if possible, but if your schedules do not match up then playing nonlive within the
48 hour window should be possible. You will be scored based on which team took the fewest moves to complete their task. In case of a tie, the fewest number of questions wins, and in case of a further tie we will use time.
Prize money will be distributed as follows:
- 1st place: $2,100 each
- 2nd place: $1,400 each
- 3rd place: $1,000 each
- 4th place: $700 each
- 5th place: $400 each
- 6th place: $200 each
