Welcome to your first Cash Grab challenge. A common theme you'll notice around these parts is that we love money. Shocking, I know! In turn, we haaate spending it. So our first task for you involves a plan to minimize our advertising costs as much as possible. Much like another person that makes things small. Hmmmm... Marvel movies: there sure are a lot of 'em, huh?! We currently have a third Ant-Man film in production, because we love money. But we feel that at this point, advertising isn't even important since these comic book nerds will go see whatever crap we spit out. Ho ho! Our advertising is more a joke we play on other studios to show them we can do whatever we want. And that's where you come in.
We want a way to make our posters for the movie as tiiiiny as possible, while still having the general public be able to recognize what's depicted in them. For this challenge, you've been randomly split up into 10 teams of 3. Each team will assign one player as the artist, while the other two players will be the guessers. Once an artist has been decided on and that artist is ready to begin, they will receive a list of 10 things. Using an image editor such as paint.net, the artist will attempt to draw each item on the list as a separate image. The artist cannot give the guessers any insight into his or her strategy, and cannot communicate about the challenge at all upon receiving the list of items. Use of outside pictures or shape models as part of the image is prohibited; everything must be drawn by hand. Letters, numbers, and codes are prohibited as well. When the artist is satisfied with their work, they will submit all 10 images in the challenge thread in their confessional. For part 2 of the challenge, the two guessers will be presented with the 10 images and must guess what each is supposed to be. The guesses won't be counted as incorrect if they're more specific than what we're looking for, but if the answer is too broad, it won't count as correct even if it technically does describe the item depicted. For example, "top hat" would count as a correct answer for "hat", but "man" would not count as correct when the answer is "George Washington". Teams will be ranked by how many items they guessed correctly. But there is a catch: ties will be won by whoever used the fewest pixels in the images on which their team answered correctly. For example, a team that answers 8 correctly using all 30x10 images (300px) would beat a team that answers 8 correctly using all 20x20 images (400px). Further ties will be won by the team whose artist submitted their drawings in the fastest time after receiving their words. The challenge will end after 55 hours, and any images not guessed on at that point will count as incorrect. You have 31 hours to decide on an artist and for that artist to submit their drawings, but if the artist finishes before the time is up, the guessers will have more time for their part of the challenge. Prize money will be distributed as follows: - 1st place: $2,000 each
- 2nd place: $1,600 each
- 3rd place: $1,200 each
- 4th place: $1,000 each
- 5th place: $800 each
- 6th place: $600 each
- 7th place: $400 each
- 8th place: $300 each
- 9th place: $200 each
- 10th place: $100 each

The artist is also allowed to draw a picture by hand and scan it or take a picture of the drawing, but the size of the image in pixels is what we’ll be looking at.

Your pictures don’t all need to be the same size.

If everyone could get this part done by half an hour before the deadline that would be very helpful.

Two teams have had some IRL complications, and since we try to pretend to enforce a good work/life balance for our employees, the guessing time for all teams will likely be extended. However, for now the countdown timer will be shifted over.

We will most likely be giving an extension for the Lavender Team due to IRL issues. However, we will go ahead and create the Phase II group chats once we reach the original deadline, so everyone will be getting extra time to talk in those new groups.

Since one team is still going, please refrain from discussion of the challenge in your new groups!
